Hi there does anyone from the UK have experience buying items from US auctions in the £200-£2000 value range and how the fees compare to buying within the EU?

I have made purchases from Naville and Naumann and it was actually cheaper buying from Austria (rather than the uk where I live) as Naumann never charged VAT.

Buyers fees and shipping are clearly stated, however but I'm really unclear on Import tax and VAT.
