This has blatant doubling south on Louisiana and 2015 on the reverse. I've looked for anyone talking about it and found nothing. Has anyone heard of this? And this is way too strong to be Machine Doubling or any other correct?

The DDRs are located in the central area of the design on both sides of the States and ATB Quarters on both sides. On the ATB outside rings on the reverse devices, these are incuse devices. (Lower than the fields) so they are raised on the dies, and when the slightest die movement happens, it alters the devices whether minor or huge 70%of the time. So just another case of a machine issue, not a doubling on the die issue. As I already mentioned, on these single squeeze dies, the doubling is seen more in the central areas of the die. Probably getting to be the most common question asked more than the small date S cents.

It's just that in person it really looks like the serrifs aren't touching.

The short and sweet answer is, this is what MD looks like on incuse devices.

As collectors, we hammer into our heads the devices need to be thicker, but the opposite is true with recessed (incuse) devices like letters and numbers. The devices where you are seeing the doubling are incuse (recessed).
