Overstock sells a pound of wheat pennies at about 30 dollars. Has anyone ever bought any? Do you think they go through them good for any that are rare?

The usual going price for wheaties is about 3 cents each. If they are selling them at 1 dollar apiece, WOW! They better be some good ones in what they give you for 30 bucks. If not, can you return them?

I agree with Merclover, those would be fairly expensive.
At about 150 wheat cents to the pound, that would be on the high side (+-20c each).
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.
Rest in Peace

You can bet that those wheat cents are Overstock from dealers that can't get rid of them at any price . I would stay clear of them .

@Jay.... In regards to anything I consider purchasing, I tend to read the customer reviews first. I don't put much credence in the one sentence or few words reviews that give 5 stars or the 1 star reviews that just bash for no reason. I look for the real reviews that give actual details, btw here's a link to Overstock pennies/reviews.... https://www.overstock.com/Sports-To...reviews.html

That's way expensive for a pound. I buy mine at 3¢ a piece, which is the most common pricing for bulk wheats.

Doesn't seem like a sound way to build a collection.

Its a good deal for them. To unload previously searched coins for a premium. Save your money on these. Find someone who is selling wheat cents that are not a variety collector. How can you tell if they are a variety collector? Look at what they are selling. On ebay look at what they have sold in the past or what they have bought in the past.

Reasonable ebay sellers of wheat pennies are between $4.50 and $7.00 a pound. At least when you are buying above 5 lbs.

So everybody, how / where do you unload your searched coins?

Can always get face value at the bank of course. And copper stackers would be happy to have them at around 1.5-2 cents.
Would you get more selling to coin dealers? Maybe 2.5 cents?

I have limited budget (no really but my wife says some have to go out before new come in) and looking to when this bag of 5000 runs out. So want to get as much as possible without lying to go towards next bag. I'm about half way through.
