Tonight I had a wonderful discovery. Looking through some misc. coins this evening,
I chanced upon a Canadian large cent that was given to me by a dealer because his shipment was late.
It's been sitting around for at least a year unnoticed, until I decided to shoot a picture tonight,
and saw something within the H mintmark.
Checking my books, I discover this was an RPM, where a large H was punched over a smaller H. It's very distinctive on the coin.
Funny how I had written this one in my book to search the show tomorrow, only to find one at home!

You and your varieties, my friend. I suppose I'll have to drag out my large cents and look for varieties, although I am certain I have the doubled 888 variety on the 1888 coin. Congratulations on your find!

Hey, I just realized that my 1882 H also has a small H under a large one! I wonder just how common this double mint mark is. Everyone, go check your 1882 H Canadian pennies!

Cool find Archraz!
I considered it scarcer because the two other 1882-H varieties are $7-8 in VF30, but the H/H is listed at $55. This is in Pierre Charest's Canadian coins and die varieties.
