I have searched many many nickels and these 2 are the only ones I've found. Any idea as to why?

Please crop and rotate photos properly before posting...thanks. Also,it is best to include the reverse. Looks like PMD and only the person who did it really knows how and why. John1

People damage coins on a whim/ have destructive tendencies. There isn't necessarily a logical reason.

Sometimes coins are used as decorations to hats or clothing, drilled to accommodate a sewing method. This looks like purposeful damage to ensure this coin was "out of market" for some reason. I have 2 wheat's drilled through for this purpose (guessing)

At one pace, I'd guess.

Quote: At one pace, I'd guess. I have a replica Colt 45 CO2 pistol with a muzzle velocity of 600 fps on a fresh cartridge. It would do that fairly easily at 10-20 feet.

At my age, I'd be most comfortable at one pace.

Or hammered in with a nail punch - but definitely NOT drilled.
BB gun makes the most sense, though.
