This is one that should go to the World Coins section. It is neither ancient nor medieval. Russian?

Is it possible that this was a round coin, but the shape appears oval because of the damage?

The reverse details are almost completely obliterated, but the obverse details and the beaded rim and cartouche visible for the reverse match the suggestion of @geralttt (Is the diameter measured from 3:00 to 9:00 about right, and the weight?).

If it is really oval, it is probably not a coin.
