Yea. I have tried hard not to complain or whine. Lol. Because this my first go at grading. A few are ok/not surprising, but overall, very disappointed.
And I agree with T-BOP. It is not you guys. Coinfog, in my couple years here as the resident whiner, you have been very accurate in what I have seen. In fact, all of you. But no ones perfect, and pictures are deceptive when we present coins for opinions.
But I have to shake my head on what I got back. I understand very good explanations I received from a few folks here on CC why certain things happen in grading, and 100% accept it. Understood. But I still scratch my head as I like to say, on many of the grades I got in this run. I have more to post. I will get there.
But not discouraged. Just disappointed. But more determined than ever to get it right. Be way more discriminating. But this Merc, it is a beauty. At least the Trueview actually shows elements of what I was saying about it originally of how bright, great luster, deep strike it has. Clean Happy they agreed with FB. The Gold-tone accents are really a winner. So pretty in the Slab. The grade does not seem to reflect all of this. But, still a beauty.
As a side note, I have a NGC graded 1937 Mercury MS68 FB, and side by side I look and go, "Five grades apart? I don't think so. And the NGC is simply stunning. Blast white. Almost perfect. Meh...
Still waiting for Error coins being done. That ought to be interesting, but this group makes me think don't get hopes up. lol
Meh, learn from it and move on.
