came across this 1984 LMC and wanted some feedback on the extra thickness of the 9 in the date and the ear. thanks

I believe the date has experienced some flattening (from a hit?). Can't tell about the ear. The rest of the lettering seems sharp, so not sure what happened to the date. This coin has zinc rot forming on it as well.

merc not seeing what your saying as there is no evidence of flattening and the rest of the date is showing thickening also, not sure where you see zinc rot either, or the "sharp lettering" as this was a VLSD and the coin is showing some orange peel

You have to keep in mind this coin was been out in the wild for 36 years. Living the Keith Richards life in circulation. So things will happen to these soft zinc coins. 'IT' happens.
