Hello! I came across this Lincoln last week and found it a bit strange. It is a 1997 Lincoln. I need help in identifying the mint error on the obverse. Front is coppery and shiny and the reverse is fairly dull. There are gouges on the rim, deformed letters, and deep scratches. The reverse appears un blemished. Can anyone please help me with identification? Is this one a keeper? Thanks, Mary Ann1997-D/P-?--Lincoln-Penny-W/-Damaged-Obverse 1997-D/P-?--Lincoln-Penny-W/-Damaged-Obverse

It is difficult to see exactly what happened from the pictures, but it appears to be quite a bit of damage that occurred after leaving the mint.

Just a badly damaged coin, no way to say for sure what happened to it. May have been face down in a parking lot or road for a while.
