I recently acquired this vignette printed on hard proof (India) paper from a dealer. The vignette is for a Chinese banknote.

Banknote-Vignette-From-China---Identification-And-Background

From its likeness, it appears that the portrait is that of Lin Sen (#26519;#26862;), the Chairman of the National Government of China (but this is only my speculation). He is depicted in the 1945 5 yuan issue but it is not the same portrait.

I'm wondering if there are any members with some more knowledge or have conducted research on this particular area of Chinese paper money who can provide more information about this proof. This may include possible dates and which issue it may have been intended for.

Thanks @Slightly Lithuanian Zac.

The portrait is that of Lin Sen then, at least according to Spink. Perhaps it was for an unissued series, or for a trial version that was later cancelled, or just a vignette which was later discarded in the design process?
