Has anyone ever heard or seen of a silver 1891 john abbott coin? I know that shell made some replicas,i have one that is from shell and one that a believe to be real because it doesn't look like the other one.thanks

there is no real 1891 john abbott coin. It is also a shell medal.

Yeah, it's part of a set of Prime Minister medallions Shell gave away in the early '70s. They are actually supposed to be gold in colour, but over time, this disappears.

Believe it or not, but rarer than the actual medallions themselves are the holders for them. There was a cardboard holder for the whole set available from the gas station itself, but one cuold send for a faux wooden frame to house the set as well. Both occasionally turn up at estate sales.
