Nice cent. I wish the mint could have spent a little more on the copper plating and put it on a little thicker. You had better seal that one up quick. I see so many 80s and 90s that have holes and blisters on them from corrosion and impurities under the plating. Maybe its the Wal-mart primer they use.lol I thank they are going to be harder to find in good shape 10 years from now. Them old copper ones will still look better then the 82 and up latter on.

Hi coindexter
just finding a zincolin without hits is a problem , this coin has no hits ,no distractions , I have others from these rolls which are better , but even with the plating splits this one is a conditional rarity for the modern lincolns .
its just the first one I photographed , the others will follow as I get time to take the photo's and take a little more care in my set up .
I just got excited that I found a few exceptional grade EDS lincolns with no problems that I could not wait to post the photo.

Also, there may be a die chip in the bottom of the U in UNITED.

good eye elimist , so far I have identified three different reverse dies and two different obverse dies in these rolls . I didn't mention it because I didn't want to seem well obsessive even though my wife accuses me of being unreachable for hours on end from across the room even though I tell her to leave a note on the refrigerator post it board if its something important !

Early Die State ,,(IE refering to the smallest details on the coin which are the first to soften and the last to fill by a less than adequate pressure when the coin is struck ) with the numbers of coins which are struck in the modern lincoln series for example the 1990-D has a mintage of 4,922,894,533 ,, thats a lot of coins and the dies are used for a great deal of time only being changed should they crack or fall apart ,get ground down from polishing or some other form of destruction the majority of the coins which we see in circulation are less than perfect to say the least and if you have never searched the LMC for above average pieces to add to a high grade collection a person can go through thousands of coins to find an MS-65 with most only reaching a dismal 63 .with an occasional 64 thrown in . finding a matched set of early dies for both obverse and reverse multiplies that problem into the realm of torture to the LMC collector . so coins like these with EDS dies both obverse and reverse and not bag marked to oblivion is an exception to the rule ! the steps on the reverse of these coins are an especially fine detail , and to find full steps from top to bottom and side to side without hits is truely an exception !

Oh man don't get me hooked on looking at the small details. I will have to toss out my collection and start over. I went for eye appeal only.

Is it just my old eyes, or is the "Liberty" doubled? At least parts of it...

That's not an EDS, probably middle die state. It shows die wear around LIBERTY and the rims.

Great find Metalman!
I've been going though box after box in search of these. Like you said, plenty of MS63 at best. Finding a magic EDS MS65+ coin is very, very difficult! Congrats!

I swear the Mint fudged the production figures for that year... I must find a dozen 1959-Ps in nice red condition for every early 90's D-mint LMC that i'd even be willing to grade above a VF. Quantity over quality, quite.
