Found this, a non-descript, well-circulated 1952 D LWC. Reverse shows some rather aggressive roll crimp damage--one of the more interesting examples I've seen.

I'm thinking this is intentional damage of some sort. No idea what or why, but I don't know of any roll crimper that could have done this. The metal displacement and patterns are very interesting too! Almost looks as if the copper alloy became very hot during the process. I'd put it in a 2X2 and save it just because it's different!

Many years ago I found a bank roll of early '60s cents. One of the roll ends was heavily wrapped--tighter and more 'closed' than usual. The coin at that end had strong crimp marks not much different than the coin I posted above. Of course, that coin is long gone! Anyway, I've added today's coin to my curiosity collection.
