coaster Pillar of the Community Australia 1366 Posts	Posted 07/10/2020 8:21 pm I came across this coin/token at a market place when holidaying in England but I'm having great difficulty in finding out what it actually is (sorry, not sure of orientation)? PaddyB Pillar of the Community United Kingdom 945 Posts	Posted 07/11/2020 02:37 am Certainly one of the Nuremburg Jetons or tokens. I can't make out the lettering but quite likely by Krauwinckel. Although produced in Germany, these were used as counters across most of Europe and turn up a lot in Englannd. The theory is that they were used by market traders as tallies when totalling up a large purchase and so are found frequently at old market sites. Most date from the late 16th century. Some of the scarcer designs are sought after and will sell. This one appears to be the most common design and I that condition is worth just a few pence.
