1962 D LMC With The Mint Mark Meant For The 1963 MMS-007.

I found this 1962 D LMC and the mint mark positioning and mint mark style of the MMS-007 appear to be correct. The last pic was borrowed fro VV.

Interesting find Jim. I cannot comment on this as I've never looked into mintmark year types.

Seems to be a match perhaps.

According to V.V. mms-007 was used in 1962 and 1963

Well not really. Yes it was used, but it wasn't supposed to be used.

MMS-007 is the mintmark style for 1963. So Jim certainly has what he claims it to be, and it is certainly rare.

But it was a replacment of 006, as a lot of the 1962_D cents show minmtmark punch damage on the lower serif:

A lot of them looked like this one that year. Thus the replacement.
