Being new to this forum, I thought it would be nice to tell something about myself.
Although I'm not entirely new to coin collecting, I've only recently ramped up my interest in it due to the Covid pandemic, having more time to delve into coins.
I've collected coins when I was a kid, most coins I got back then came from people returning from their holidays across europe. I still have these albums, containing coins from pre-euro era Europe, soviet eastern Europe and some oddities from asia.
I don't remember how I got them, but as I went through my collection lately, I noticed I have a lot of coins from outside of Europe that stem from Ceylon / Sri Lanka, pre WWII.
My main interest nowadays are coins pre-WWII. I still have to decide which exact direction to take with my collection, as everything looks nice and shiny now. But I suppose I can learn a lot in these forums and refine my goals - and get some knowledge so I don't buy too many forgeries..
Anyways it's nice to see a lively community centered around my hobbies, so I'm looking forward to discussing and learning.
Welcome. I spent 3 years in Germany. Pre WWII is a great era to collect. I like large copper and silver coins from that era. One suggestion is try to buy in the grade extremely fine or better. These coins have almost complete details, easier to detect error coins and will grow in value faster. Good luck hunting
