The postman is having a busy week with me. Grade opinions? She did take a pretty good ding to the neck, and a deep scratch. Do you think it would get details, or let it slide being over 200 years old?

I'll say G/VG details (gouged).

Detail looks about VG. That deep scratch is not something that would be overlooked and should lower the value quite a bit.

I was thinking closer to fine details. Give gradeflation a couple more years though, in 2030 this could be considered a "nice original problem free VF-20, with CAC approval".

That's why I'm wondering about a details suffix... I've seen worse 200+ y.o. coins on here that graded straight. I was thinking about VG-8. In any event, I probably didn't get hurt at $48...

Well at $48 you could drill a hole through it and still make out alright. (Obviously, don't actually do that lol) but $48 isn't that bad of a price.

The center of the coin is weakly struck. Looking at the edges, lettering and star details I think this is F-12. But the scratches will "details" it, they are too deep.

weak strike both sides. F details. they would let some scratches pass but not that vertical one, its just too deep and too big in a key area

I was revisiting this post, and just noticed something that I haven't before... Look at the denticles on the obverse at 7 o'clock - die error?
