Unfortunately, we've had severe wind and rain that tore a large hole in my roof resulting in water damage to some of my collections.

These are small canvas bags that contained 15 cents each (5 from each mint) in supposedly uncirculated condition. The picture will give you an idea of what they are like now.

I guess they're pretty much a write off. That said should I look for anything salvageable or should I just take them apart and take them to the bank? Any other thoughts?

Way too long. Seriously though, about a week. Has them stored in (what I thought) was a waterproof plastic bag. Didn't realize that it had soaked through.

Thanks, could have been a lot worse if we were under it when it collapsed.

Hmmm, might be worth a quick look through after all. They had been stored in my attic for a number of years too. (I know, not the best place but needs-musts for some low value coins I wanted to try to keep.)

Still technically in uncirculated condition, they won't have "wear" let's say beyond bag marks.

my opinion, dry them out thoroughly check out one or two for corrosion, and let it sit for a decade or so and see if you get some sweet toning or a canvas bag pattern or something on them.
What's done can't be undone, but toning isn't a "total loss". sometimes it works out in your favor especially where canvas is involved. toning is acceptable, corrosion isn't. the canvas alone could have done the toning color shift really. I'm not sold they were brilliant red gems in the first place let's say unless you checked each bag before putting them up.

Not worth the effort to attempt any restoration.
