I would like to resubmit coins that have been graded, But want to send them in raw.
Is there an easy way to open the old holders without destroying the coin?

Thanks vince

A lot depends upon which company's slabs they are. Many of the slabs can be opened simply by inserting a razor blade at the corners. PCGS and NGC are quite difficult to open. I can't remember the last PCI slab I opened. I think I had to destroy the entire upper portion in order to get it apart. No matter how you do it, make sure you have a soft pad where you're working.

They can all be opened in one manner or another. Just go very, very easy and very, very slow with the least amount of force necessary. Like Susan said, take all possible precautions for dropping the coin while opening the slab.
Good luck!

Me?

I use two sets of pliers, eye protection for the flying plastic, and strong forearms. I break the corners first and carefully work my way around the slab. The new NGC slabs are tough as hell. SEGS slabs are tough too! ICG and PCGS break like glass and will shatter as pieces fly around the room.

Be careful NOT to exhale on your coins, like PROOFS!! Water vapors from a sneeze, cough, or simple exhaling will SCREW UP your coins. If you have an allergy attack, DIVE away from your coins!

Try to keep your coin in the slab's insert holder (within the slab) until you can carefully slide it right into the submission flip. NEVER touch them...especially proofs. This is how you lose grading points quickly!! It can make a grown man cry!
