Half Crown Lima 1745 With 1805 Date Also Included?

halfcrown New Member United Kingdom 10 Posts	Posted 07/17/2020 10:06 am Hi all, I have a 1745 Half Crown Lima (pictured - apologies for the terrible photos) which also looks to include "1805" in the center. (possibly 1850 or other combination of those numbers) I haven't seen this variation elsewhere - does anyone know if this is legit? Or possibly if it was added retrospectively, or even if the coin might be a reproduction? Thanks. Report this Post to the Staff

Princetane Pillar of the Community 4628 Posts	Posted 07/23/2020 2:51 pm Condition wise, your coin is in the goodFine level. Shame someone decided to carve their love into it 215 years ago. Ironically this was one of the latest Halfcrowns circulating in 1805 (The number sequence suggests its almost certainly 1805 and not 1850 - more archaic lettering and plus by 1850 you had a plethora of late Georgian and early Victorian halfcrowns to desecrate). None were issued between 1750 and 1816! Report this Post to the Staff
