well over a year ago I suggested to the seller of this 1859 Large Cent to have it certified at ICCS or CCCS.even sent him the addresses.
he suggested to mind my own business as he knows where to go for that.
the coin is so very stale and repetitive by now.
here is his auto-renew- repeated ebay listing #.
164294002111 and link

just curious what you guys think about this coin? and what it really is? is it what he says?
thanks guys

NGC values it at $3000 in MS63. I think that's the same coin anyway. Following this thread, interesting thanks for posting.

The OP's coin is not the TP'd 9 that we put into the 65th edition of Charlton that shows many of the Vicky large cent varieties. Most of the 1859's that are in that Charlton were my coins or Brad's. Since the final digit of all the 1859's was handpunched into the working dies .. and it took 2-4 smacks of the hammer to the punch to make it deep enough, there are almost 100 types of repunched 9's floating around. Since we had so many different coins to choose from for '59, we didn't include ev en 10% of what could be found. The "official" TP#1 for 1859 (as listed in Charlton or Trends) is not like this coin, nor is it the TP#2.***(correction ... it IS the TP#2) Nice coin, but lucky to be a $500+ or $1000 coin. Coins looks MS wearwise, but looks like some corrosion on there as well.

It is the TPN9#2 from page 293 of the 65th. The picture there is of my coin in PCGS 63RB.

As I recall, an ICCS example in 62RB sold for $1,800 CAD a few years ago. Last mint state sale of one I have seen.

Yep, you're right Rob. I didn't see the D/C at 12 on the OP's coin. The OP's coin also has more visible offset (underpunch) at 12 to 1:00 than p293.

I think the demarcation of the offset on the top of the 9 got lost in later die states. Here is my coin.

Thanks fellows,
I knew the seller was way out to lunch.
I communicated with him several times, but, what I had to say he knew it all better...
Have a great and sunny weekend!
I am going fishing.. (yes for springs (kings). Just want one around 20 lbs.
