When a mod locks a duplicate topic, is there a way to merge the locked topic into the existing so we don't miss good (sometimes) posts?

We do sometimes if we don't catch them early, but I must do it directly in the DB and it's a pain in the butt.

I imagine it is! Yuk! I was imagining a mod-only function to make it less of a PITA for y'all and still preserve the good posts.

Or perhaps a way to tag posts, or assign sub-posts or something.

I don't have a good solution, just bringing it up.

And as painful and arduous as it is, I'll think some more.
