Hello, So I got 2, 1982 US pennies. One is like red and the other one is brown. Both I believe Large date. weight for each is: 3.12 grams. Does that mean it's copper ? Do these pennies have any value ? Edited by AshC21 07/17/2020 10:19 pm

I believe they also have to have a small 2 and those are the large 2 the small 2 has more of a bend or a hump before it straightens the bottom line of the 2 if you look at pictures you can tell the difference

They are indeed large dates.
That weight is within mint tolerance, they are also copper. I mean, value is a bit less than 2 cents.

If you can find a 1982-D small date copper penny that one is very valuable. Was not known to exist until not too long ago. Now I believe only two have been found so far. Have been looking into this a lot recently

Hi everyone, Is a small date easy to spot? Or will I have to buy an expensive microscope that measures micro MMs? May seem like a stupid question, but from the examples I have seen, they sure are hard to spot. Thanks for the advise. :-) Pennyer

I went ahead and posted a photo so you can see the difference (above). If you want to show us you coins with any questions you still have, please do so in your own thread, and please, one coin per thread. to the CCF!

Pennyer, you are most welcome! Once you start identifying the two different 2s, after a few times you'll be able instantly recognize the difference between large and small dates. again I look forward to seeing you coins/postings!
