I thank you all for your replies and patience.
Not many more to go now from this tray's worth of ancients which were left to me.
Although, for decades, my 'thing' has been English early milled, on the back of your input I'm seeing these ancients in a new light and, quite frankly, loving owing them.
This one: 17mm, 3.9g. Conjoined busts on the obverse, a bloke in a pointy hat riding a pair of galloping horses on the reverse. No obvious legends, but there may be something in the reverse exergue.
Over to you.

Some varieties, including yours, have a control mark below the horses. Can't quite tell for sure what it is on yours. Possibilities that may relate to what I see on yours include a dolphin, stag's head (with long antlers), and cornucopia.

Thank you again Bob. Info for the tray paper disc duly noted.
Is this worth anything?

Here's the reverse again, but I doubt what may be a control mark is any the clearer.

In better condition it might be worth a couple hundred dollars. With the wear on yours, I'd guess around $50. I don't know if the control marks factor into the value based on rarity or whether they are incidental. (I don't collect Roman Republican)

Here are some with a bit a wear. Sold prices are included:

Thanks Bob. Value isn't important to me, I ask simply out of interest.
I'm always amazed how easy it can be for someone to begin a collection of old coins on a very modest budget. It's possible to own an ancient thing of beauty for no more than a few pounds/dollars.
English early milled ( so not so old): I remember, as a kid, how precious to me was an 1763 3d in good very fine condition I bought with my weekly pocket money allowance in 1970. I still have it.
