A friend cleared out their grandfather's house and asked me if I could help them put prices on a coin collection they found. I gave them my best estimates for the U.S and European coins. But I quickly reached the limit of my knowledge with these ancient Chinese cash coins:

Any Information about dates, regions, materials, values, likelihood of counterfeiting, etc. Would be marvelously
appreciated!

Welcome to the Coin Community Family!

These are all common cash coins of the Ch'ing Dynasty, worth about $1-2 each. They can be identified at

http://www.calgarycoin.com/referenc...chai%20ching

Starting from the top left as number 1, going across to 3, then second row from left as number 4, going across to 6

1. Kao Tsung (Ch'ien Lung) 1736-1795, possibly Kiangsu mint (hard to read)
2 and 5 same: Hsuan Tsung (Tao-Kuang) 1821-1850, Board of Works mint Beijing
3. Jen Tsung (Chai-Ch'ing) 1796-1820, possibly Yunnan mint (hard to read)
4. Sheng Tzu (K'ang-Hsi) 1662-1722, Board of Revenue mint Beijing
6. same as 1 but Board of Revenue mint Beijing

For future attribution requests it would be helpful to number the coins and orient them correctly.
