So, I came across this lovely 1961 D Lincoln Cent. Initially, I first noticed the "puffy" look to the coin. The more I looked at it, the more I noticed something else. The "Li" in "Liberty", and pretty much all of "In God We Trust" at the top, are all hidden underneath the rim of the penny. Hopefully, you'll be able to see based on these pics. I have tried googling it, but of course, no luck finding any like this. Your input would be awesome! Thanks. #9786;#65039;

@kris, first welcome to CCF. Second, yes this looks a lot like a Dryer Coin to me.

Tunnoic, I have never heard that term before, like I said I'm fairly new to this, but it definitely makes sense and looks just like this penny does! Thank you! Every time I would google a coin, of course it would always pop up with different forums. But most of the time, people asking a simple question about their coin, would get a nasty response, as if they're just dumb. But thank you for that! I honestly did not know. Now I gotta dig out my other coins that I believe MAY be errors and see what y'all think. #9786;#65039;

You can always spot a Dryer Coin based off it's rim, it'll be noticeably thicker and curled inwards, often obscuring any text near the coin's edge, such as "In God We Trust." Coupled with a grainy, faded obverse/reverse and the diameter being smaller than average, it's a dead giveaway for a Dryer Coin.
