I received this bill from a person I know. They know nothing about what this is or how they got it. Most likely a hand down from their grandparents to their parents to them. I don't know anything about it either but I told them I would try to figure what is it and its worth. So...
1) What exactly is this?
2) What is its rarity, or value?
3) What is the history behind this item?
Of course any other information would be greatly appreciated. As you can see in the image I took the last two numbers out of the four number sequence. Also there is nothing on the back of this bill if you were wondering. I will PM the last numbers to you after I have gotten some information on this. Thank you for helping with his interesting find, I appreciate it extremely! I measured the actual size of it and it is 18.4 cm long and is of 9.5 cm of height.

Johndoe, welcome to the forum! This is a $1000 note from the Bank of the United States. Unfortunately, I think it is a reproduction. A Lot of reproductions were made of notes of this period to sell at historical sites. One of the known reproductions is the Bank of the United States note dated Dec 15, 1840 serial number 8894. The last 2 numbers are punched out of your note but I would guess they are the 94. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but this is my opinion.
