The second cent I'd like to post from my unknown pile is this 1991 Memorial cent. It has been well struck in the minting process, especially around the rim areas, and it has what looks to be Struck Through Grease on some other devices (especially the date). It also shows split plating on the reverse devices. The curious thing is that it only weighs in at 2.2g. Is it just an underweight planchet or something else. Again, I would appreciate your thoughts, thank you.

This is an interesting example. Also there is a die crack to the edge from the roof at the K10-K11 position obverse is slightly misaligned also.

Should be 2.5g, with a +/- 0.10. Make sure your scale is calibrated. and triple check that it is in fact 2.2g

My opinion, there is an issue with the striking here, water on the die maybe, the roller lines of the planchet are still visible and should have been obliterated in the strike.

There's more knowledgeable people on here than me, so lets see what they have to say.
I'm not sure what to make of this as a whole.

the Grease Fill on the 1 is one thing, but if it was a thin planchet or light, it wouldn't be struck so well overall.
A pressure issue maybe? Still doesn't explain the lightness by .3g... but if your scale is off by .1+ or rounds, and the coin is off by just the .1, it might not be out of tolerance.

Interesting coin, thanks for sharing!

Good call Big-Kingdom, I re-calibrated my scale (see pic) and now [triple-checked] it weighs in at 2.4g. Makes more sense.

Split plating on the reverse on United States, building sides and ONE CENT.
