Help-1877-Seated-Half-Errors-Trying-To-Understand

Hi All. I am new to this forum. I inherited a coin collection from my dad recently and while most of his coins are pretty straight forward and easy to research I am at a complete loss on this. I would call the damage(?) around the date pitting but I can't find any examples, and the stamping error(?) on the edge a mint error. What do you all think? Is this coin worthless or more valuable? Thank you!

Both are PMD, either intentional damage or ED. Both sadly devalue the coin.

the coin was also previously holed and crudely repaired.

What is surprising is how much wear it received after it was plugged. Maybe used as a pocket piece?
