Was there a alloy or strike difference between 1958 (wheat) and 1959 (Memorial) Proofs?

They sure look different across all years. The red is from my camera. This is a collage of single straight on shots so no angle tricks.

They should all be .95 copper and .05 tin and zinc. However, there are always tolerances on this sort of thing, so slight differences would be expected. Not sure about strike in terms of process, but obviously they were different die sets. With a different reverse, there could have been a different strike pressure to get it to come out just right I suppose. Unfortunately, I was a slave to the labels on my albums and just added the proof-only issues, so I don't have a '58-to-'59 crossover to compare. Assuming you didn't buy these as they came out in the '50s and store them in identical conditions for 60 years, could there be previous environmental differences? It is a pretty minor difference.

The master reverse hub was brand new in 1959 - the memorial building design change.
