So on these fourms, I've noticed a lot of poking fun at how PCGS grades canadian silver, but how's PCGS with grading copper, nickel and gold? Also, how does NGC compare to PCGS and ICCS when it comes to grading?

The composition of the coin has nothing to do with the issue.
PCGS and NGC are quite competent at grading MS Canadian coins regardless of composition.
The problem seen by many is that they overgrade coins in the VF to AU range, also regardless of composition.
"Dipping" is not considered cleaning...
-from PCGS website

however I think the VF to AU could be expanded to really G-4 to AU-58. Lots of examples of them giving harshly cleaned key date KGV half dollars that realistically are Fine details at best a straight grade VF-20 grade.

Circulated Newfoundland coins they're even worse at grading.

And again I feel like I have to chime in an object to the exaggerated generalization. It is true that on average compared to ICCS holders (more so older two letter holders since ICCS is clearly experiencing grading creep) coins in the ef-au range are often graded higher by both NGC and PCGS. It also true that many MS coins in ICCS holders would never make grade by either of the US TPGs. With respect to NFLD coins, ICCS has always been overly conservative in grading them. I sell and have coins graded by all TPGs. Even having my name on the NGC site, I still give ICCS more business. The reason why I chime in on these grading discussions is not so much favoring US TPGs but the unreasonable single sided criticism of US TPGs. Some of the top Canadian coins are sitting in PCGS holders.

I wouldn't call it unreasonable.

The reason you will probably see me call out PCGS and NGC for their lack of grading skills with circulated Canadian material more than ICCS is because of how high a standard they (the US TPGs) place on themselves, specifically PCGS.

There is really nothing to say about ICCS that hasn't already been said, their holders are flimsy, they often straight grade cleaned or otherwise damaged coins, their lack of a website up until a couple months ago, etc etc. whereas there still seems to be this idea that when the major US TPGs do these things (grade obvious details coins, grossly overgrading coins, etc), there is almost always a large amount of damage control and or benefit of the doubt given that ICCS doesn't seem to get, despite the fact that given the massive price differences they charge, the US TPGs should be the ones held to a higher standard if anything.

Because PCGS coins trade better, not because they're necessarily better at grading.
