Post #39: Is This Roman Republic Denarius A Fouree?

twood89 Valued Member United States 278 Posts	Posted 07/28/2020 8:17 pm This coin weighs 2.3g and is 18.5mm in diameter. As seen in the pictures there are patches of graininess on this coin. I am confused as to wether this is a fouree example of the L. Sempronius Pitio Denarius or if it is an authentic example suffering from internal crystallization. The weight seems too low for it to be a normal non-crystallized authentic coin. It would be great to have some of your thoughts on this issue. Report this Post to the Staff

I'm not saying that it is cast, but the rev surface is pretty granular.
