This looks like a plating blister on a zinc cent.

Does it weigh 2.5 grams?

It is actually split plating on that area of the mintmark. This happened a lot on the Zincolns. The zinc is exposed and opens itself up to zinc rot.

Thanks for the info. I really appreciate it. I have a solid black 1942 quarter and can't seem to get any info on it. I tried googling it but don't know any "key words" to use when searching besides "black quarters". Always end with with black beauty results, the tone of the quarter matches the black beauty though as if someone sprayed it with black paint. Also took a tiny bit of paint thinner and dabbed it on the rim to make sure it wasn't paint lol. Btw I'm a noob to the coin game and appreciate everyones feedback.
