Hi there,

Bought a nice looking coin from ebay for a one digit amount, now I'm curious what it is.. I'm guessing it's medieval islamic. I've been searching up and down through databases, but can't find this exact coin.

The coin resembles a Mongol state or Timurid Empire coin the most for me, but I might also be completely false.. Anyone here who knows this type?

Thanks for having a look!

Timurid, I suspect. Hopefully Kushanshah will reply to your post here.

Some links, pointing in that general direction:

Not really Timurids but an anonymous civic copper of Bukhara, dated 832. The mint name Bukhara is at the center of the floral cartouche with the date written out in words on the reverse. Album 3275. Mr. Album lists these under the rubric "Central Asia Civic Copper" noting "The 832 type of this mint is the most common of all the Central Asia dangis, and was likely produced with frozen date for as long as 60 years, both official issues of the Bukhara mint, and private imitations from undetermined locations in Central Asia."

Wow thanks a lot!

So I wasn't too far off with my own research- who knows, I might be an expert like you guys someday ;)
I'm very glad to have this coin, the silk road is such an intriguing part of history.
