Looks like debris got into the striking chamber and shattered the planchet.

Looks like a bad planchet on the second dime. Never seen one with three affected areas. But the weakness on the opposite of the three areas on the reverse tells me this is a bad planchet issue. The first one with the date, I question. I need to see the edges on it to see how the reeds appear on that area. I feel this one is PSD.

Why is the fields raised on the 'ES' area on States? A view of the edge of the coin will show the reeds better. They should be straight. If the are altered/pressed inwards, then it is damage.

Im happy to get you guys some shots of the rim,let me dig it out. This is what I love about the hobby, the urge to debunk is very strong within the community, lol. That shows passion and interest,i like it. Ive had these looked at by leading experts in the error field,i would be very surprised if this is PMD. Give me a few.

It is possible to 'manufacture' clip end fake error coins, complete with Blakesley effect.
Because of this, I tend to be particularly wary of clip end errors, genuine or fake.
So should every other serious collector of error coins.

Excellent examples. Weights might help dispel doubts.

Coin 1 looks legit because of the weakness on the reverse side (without distorting the shape) directly opposite the missing metal on the obverse side.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.
