Recently, I found a group of my coins being sold by someone else on ebay. The guy to whom I 'traded' them did not hold up his end of the trade and it appears to be the same guy selling them. Has anyone had anything similar to this happen and how did it work out?

let me see if I understand this..... you made a trade and sent your coins out but never got anything in return and NOW the guy is selling the coins you sent him?

It turns your stomach sour hearing about things like that. Can you contact ebay and maybe get law enforcement involved or what are you going to do?

Let ebay know he is selling stolen property. Can you document that you shipped the coins to him and that he received them?

I doubt ebay would do anything, but it's worth a try. Did he claim he sent them to you? Did he have any proof of posting?

Sorry to hear your news. Does this forum have a bad trader list? E-Bay used to be good at disputes, but I guess that they are too large now to offer customer service.

That really is poor on his part. If the sum is great enough and you can prove what you say, there is always legal actions. Of course most people know a law suite can cost a lot of money and that is why so much goes on with ebay situations. Sure would be nice to post his name all over the country somewhere like those sex pervert lines.

If I was a less than polite person, and I absolutly knew it was the same guy, I might open up a new ebay account. I'd double check and make sure he would combine shipping, and I would be pretty interested in some of those auctions, and I would start bidding on all of his auctions. And then the check would be in the mail. No really, its in the mail. Oh, yea, I'll send it now. Okay, I sent it. Seriously, I sent it. I'm sure it'll be there anyday.

I was hoping on a happy story about you finding stolen coins and having them returned to you. It is sad to think someone has the %^&* to even think about doing that. "Hey, I have no idea what happened to your coin, but do you want to buy this one that looks exactly the same"? Sorry to here about that and hopefully ebay (or paypal, if you used them) can do something to help you out. Now that ebay really does not have a negative response for people you can not use this as an advantage.

Your case is difficult to prove even if you have pictures to show the coins were yours. The bad guy can always says he bought it and it is his. The only way is to contact the seller or the winner of the auction and tell him directly that those coins were yours and were stolen and if the coins are really that expensive then contact ebay. I don't know what ebay can do but it is worth a try and let the bad guy know there will always be payback time no matter what. Bad Karma is on the way.

luckily, we had a detailed written trade agreement and he admitted to being short on his part, I suppose because he thought I would never find him.
