NGC - Coin of the Day: World Elephant Day is marked every year on August 12. This German East Africa 1916T 15 Rupien was struck for a German colony that roughly corresponds to modern-day Rwanda, Burundi and Tanzania. Germany was forced to give up the colony after World War I.
