@cheetah, sorry for the late reply. This looks like a mid-19th Century Cash from Emperor Xianfeng, but I'm having some trouble with the getting a specific ID. In particular, the bottom character on the left image is "wen" I think, but it seems like that rather should be the denomination. Hopefully someone with more knowledge that me can pick up identification effort and give you more certainty.

Or if you've already solved it, please follow up with us and let you know what you have discovered!

The obverse matches Hsien-feng (Wen-tsung) 1851-1861.
Hsien-feng Chung-pao (type B-1) as in Krause
The reverse matches Hartill 22.689 and described thus:
22.689 Obv: Xian Feng zhongbao Rev: Boo chiowan Wu wen (5 cash) Formal style.
The book says "design not adopted" and it's not found among the other cash coins that were produced and circulated that are found in the printed reference book as well as online and auction catalog sources. So it's either a remarkable find or it's not genuine.
If someone wanted to make a fake and make it look old, this would be a good choice. I've often thought the counterfeiters look in catalogs for rarities, imitate them and pass them off to the unwary.
