I found this crh a couple weeks ago not sure what's under that D but it sure looks like a P. What do y'all see.

I see a circle I'm side the D attached to the leg. Looks like maybe a P

Close-up please. There was no "P" mint mark used in this year, so what you're seeing is a combination of die chips, a damaged mint mark punch, or circulation damage.

I new there was no mint mark for philly it just looked like a P so I thought maybe someone made a mistake and they stamped a D over it.

Before Coops answer I was thinking West Point mm error because I can sort of imagine e a W there...but they only made cents until 1949 and I don't think they ever put their mark on this denomination until 2019

2017-P is the only 'P' mintmark on cents. Why?:

Not sure how they could "accidentally" engrave a mintmark they didn't use.
