Well first of all this thread was a one off, when I was told to post on to a sticky which promptly got shut down.
Answering your questions.
1. Finding Florins or any other NZ Predecimal coin in average (Read Good to Fine) condition is relatively easy and they should be cheap (Like no more than 2x Silver melt) and maybe a quarter for bronze and Cupronickel coins (1947 - 1965).
Better dates for Florins are 1936 and 1944, any coin 1947 or later should be very (Sub $1) for a Fine example. In VF they cost more and EF and higher these coins are very expensive (High Hundreds to low thousands - 1936 is $10k uncirculated). Mainly as NZ had almost no coin collectors before the hoarding craze of the late 1960s when everyone collected up piles of Florins in worn and average condition as we adopted the dollars and cents.
2. To my knowledge I have not seen any Chinese fake NZ Florins, the only fakes I have seen are of 1949 Crowns and these are so crude, they would not fool anyone.
Hope this helps, you can read my Predecimal thread as well, which explains Florins and all NZ coins in more detail. The HFBCWG Australia edition aslo has numerous examples of these coins in above average condition
