You happened upon a coin that has not seen much circulation. It might be worth keeping at least until you find an even older cent with at least that much red.
It is far more common now than it used to be to find 40 and 50 year old cents that are still mostly red. Fifty years ago, 1970, one would almost never find in circulation a 40 or 50 year old coin with any red at all, much less as much as your 1982 coin has. At that time, with roll searching and luck, maybe you'd find a cent from the 1940s with a hint of red. Before World War II, cents were too valuable to leave sitting in a drawer for long, so they got spent and tarnished.
