I been coin collecting over many years, found this strange error on this silver 1964-D dime almost looks like a tear drop. I thought you find it interesting. I am not sure what would cause this error. It is part of the coin not something external.

IMHO....first glance, Die gouge.

Probably a die chip. That area of the design is deeper into the die. It would be strange for a gouge to happen in the deeper recesses of the die. Die gouges are most often seen on the fields as that is the outside part of the die.
