Quote:
" Virtually all 1966 Canada Dollars are of the Large Bead variety, though an unknown mintage of perhaps fewer than 500 are mules pairing a Small Beads obverse with a 1966-dated reverse and were somehow struck at the Hull facility of the Royal Canadian Mint - how these mules came to be is unknown but suspected to be intentional " Source is PCGS article written by Joshua McMorrow-Hernandez.
Much like the Other headliners of the 1965 to 1967 period Double and triple strikes of 1967 Halves and Dollars , Diving Geese
and all the other stuff , purposely made for a ready and willing coin market that existed at the time .

I appreciate the info Pacificoin. Does Josh's article mention the well-known Canadian dealer to whom you are referring, or is that info one of those things that are well-known by the people who well-know it?

Well known by those who know or rather did know. The dealer is long dead .
The two sources who told me the story , both very prominent numismatists are also
No longer with us . Both told me essentially the same story and were both stellar
and completely unimpeachable sources .
Knowing the skullduggery that went on at the RCM in the mid late 1960s ,
absolutely zero reason to not believe it .
