Another coin I purchased locally today. Not the nicest strike ever, but definitely problem free.

Frosty as they get.

I'll say VF-35 - lighting suggests it may have been cleaned.

it's in hand coinfrog, the strike is weak, but it has frosty cartwheels, definitely not cleaned. It's like it has a dark undertoning with frosty luster, hard to explain so here's a video.

under heavy magnification, you might be right...glad I know the guy, he's probably had it forever and didn't know either...in hand it looks so good...doh!

VF-35, altered surfaces (whizzed). Usually they would only do that on an AU coin to try to stretch it to MS.

The pics do make it look pretty suspect. Very flat, dull luster. But the video does show cartwheel, and a quite frosty luster. If it were whizzed, you wouldn't have that effect.

I'll be the minority with this being a very weak struck UNC

Thanks ploopy! I definitely see where the whizzed folks are coming from now. Pretty apparent on the reverse with a raised lip on a number of the devices.

It likely was AU (or very close) before they got to it.
