NGC - Coin of the Day: August 23 is the International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition. This is an 1838 "Am I Not a Woman & A Sister" Hard Times Token. These copper tokens were used to aid commerce in the US, and they often had political messages - in this case, an anti-slavery one.
