Myself, I like ANACS. While true, they do grade far more than any in details, straight grading has become much more consistent with the top two. Although I'm not a profession grader, looking at two exact grade coins side by side I rarely find a significant difference from one to the other. In short, I think ANACS is a fine grading services which has gotten both a bad reputation that is hard to overcome and have been the victim of aggressive corporate tactics by the top two.

Seems like everyone here is in agreement that ANACS is better than ICG. And for the most part, ANACS grades just as well as PCGS and NGC.

Why then, do coins graded by PCGS and NGC command higher secondary market / auction prices than ANACS?

Where do you get that? Yes for the super expensive coin the top 2 have cornered the market but for average coins, I never ever paid more for a graded coin than a raw coin. I've never paid more for an NGC or PGCS slab. I buy the coin.

That is really a broad based statement that is not necessarily so. IF a person buys the COIN and NOT the HOLDER
There are many ANACS coins that will bring as much or more than any PCGS or NGC coins .

I've seen, in general, higher prices on ebay for coins graded by PCGS and NGC than ANACS.

Again, what people ask and what it sells more isn't the same thing. I see higher prices all the time on ebay. If its an item that I like, I'll offer a price I fell is fair. I paid below the asking price on 75% of all my ebay purchases (even when make an offer is not listed).
