Hello everyone, this is my first post on this forum. I love numismatics!

I have 200 quarters from 2008 in mint bags, sealed inside a box mailed from the mint. It has a postmark date where I could submit the package and quality for FIRST STRIKE designation.

Does anyone have any tips on how to be successful with a bulk FS order? For example, would it make sense to request 66 and above? I hope to get tips, it seems expensive but perhaps worthwhile?

Thanks!

.... to the Community!

Think long and hard about this type of submission before pulling the trigger. Do your homework.

First Strike designation on something like this might not mean diddly squat.

Grades of 67 and higher probably would.

Good luck!

Remember that if a coin is not worth ~150.00, then its not worth it to pay the fees.

It is difficult to find a coin that will rate a $$ grade from a mint bag b/c these are coins made from general circulation and, when being ejected from the machine, are allowed just to fall into a bin on top of the already minted coins. Hence the coins get marked up to the point its rare even one will get a $$ grade.

Do a lot of homework before thinking about grading coins at all. Ask yourself why you want to have them slabbed. If its a better coin ou want to make the best profit on from selling, then slabbing is a good idea (remember the 150.00 mark though).
If you want to slab them just b/c you like slabbed coins - go for it.

But unfortunately there are many people who pay these companies large fees to slab no-hobby-value coins. And there are many who do not realize a slabbed coin can be broken out, sent back to the same company, and never be guaranteed of the same grade.
There is no science to it. The companies will tell you its an art. So once the plastic and label are gone, the "magic" value added to the coin by the company is gone.
This is why the people on this forum will tell you to buy the coin and not the slab (also the "First Strike" designation labels are just a marketing scheme).
