Hi Everyone,

Came across this one while I was looking through some coins for potential PCGS submission. Noticed the "UNITED STATES" appears to have been re-entered, the "I" in AMERICA displays similar irregularities. The rest of AMERICA does not.

Open to ideas for the cause? I'm no expert in US coinage!

It's called longacre doubling, extremely common.

Here's another really good example of Longacre Doubling on a 1865 III¢ piece. I really like the way it looks on a high grade coin!
