This looks like it might be a 1971 D DDO . I put arrows where I thought I was seeing issues with the coin. I also see a "2" near the L in Liberty. Is that my eyes playing tricks or what could that be?

The field areas are not raised. If it were something that was struck onto the die, the coins would show these as raised. They are just distracts that you mind sees as something, but it not a raise on the coin. A DDO would look more like this:

Contact marks can alter a device. But if several in a row are showing the same notch, then it might be something?

Thanks Coop! Thought I had something with the notch in the serif on the T and the lines on the "I" based on images I saw on Variety Vista. Guess I was wanting it to be something !

Also - Note to self - Don't let the distracts distract you!

Still learning! Back to the hunt! Thanks for the info!!
