I think I finally found my first DDO. For real this time.

Haha, this was the very next coin I picked up since the last topic I made.

From Wexler's

1990 1¢ WDDO-003

Description: Strong extra thickness shows on the date especially the lower nines. A notch shows on the lower left of the one.

Die Markers: Obverse: None significant. Reverse: A small die gouge touches the lower right of the I in UNITED. A die gouge can be found between the lower N and E in ONE.

Looks like a match to me.

Looks possible, but the photo of the date is so blurry I'm having a hard time telling for sure.

I agree with both of Sam's comments - it might be and the date isn't clear enough. Can you get a better close-up shot?

This is probably the best I can do with an Ipad and the lense off a microscope, until my 1200x digital scope gets delivered. I can zoom in a lot more, but it gets blurry.

I believe I do see the extra thickness on the date and the die gouges on the reverse do match.

I think you got a good one!

It's possible, but can you make sure that the die gouge is actually on the field and not a piece of long or dust? Maybe quick acetone dip?

Awesome, I almost passed it up thinking it was yet another Machine Doubling.

I kept thinking the numbers looked "somehow different" than the rest I've seen and decided to go back through the small pile I was checking (I actually pulled it from the pile 4-5 times to look at it).

Then finally looked it up over at Wexler's and saw that the die markers matched up.

I don't have any acetone right now (I've always heard that you shouldn't ever clean coins), but since it's already pretty bad looking, I ran it under water and rubbed it with my fingers to get any stuck dirt or dust off and let it air dry. Then I checked again and both the die markers are still there.

Ok great find then, congrats, acetone will not effect the coin, most people pass it in acetone before 2x2.

Thank you.

I will be reading about how the acetone dip works and might get some in a few days.
